Purina Europe is today announcing that it has exceeded its early milestone for regenerative agriculture. The leading pet care company had set an initial target of sourcing 20%1 of cereals and vegetable proteins from farmers using regenerative agriculture practices. By the end of 2025 this figure has already reached 29%1. Across Europe more than 630 farmers and over 37,000 hectares are now engaged in regenerative agriculture programmes supported by Purina.
A commitment to regenerative agriculture
This progress reflects Purina Europe’s on-going commitment to investing in regenerative agriculture at scale. Regeneration is essential to restoring ecosystems, supporting farmer livelihoods and strengthening resilience in supply chains while contributing to Nestlé’s long-term ambition to reach Net Zero emissions by 2050.
Strengthening partnerships to accelerate impact
Purina Europe has rapidly expanded two core programmes to reach this milestone. “Sols Vivants” program run by the Earthworm Foundation in France and “Landscape Enterprise Networks” (LENs) run in partnership with 3Keel in the UK, Hungary, Poland and Italy. These partnerships provide farmers with technical assistance, agronomical tools and financial support to help restore soil health and strengthen the resilience of the land.
Expanded and Diversified Programmes in Italy and Türkiye
Purina Europe is also diversifying its regenerative agriculture efforts through new pilots. In Italy, a new programme developed with Biosphères is supporting farmers by implementing regenerative agriculture practices. In Türkiye, Purina is also supporting a new pilot programme focused on corn, developed together with the Earthworm Foundation. These pilots help test practical, regenerative solutions on the ground.
Upgraded Landscape Enterprise Network (LENs) Model
Together with 3Keel, Purina Europe is evolving the LENs model, to offer farmers more comprehensive agronomic support. This enhanced approach will give farmers access to tools and local agronomic support to analyse their own farming systems and develop adapted roadmaps that help build long-term resilience of their farms.
Flagship Agroforestry Deployment in France
In France, Purina Europe continues to support its first flagship agroforestry program, in partnership with Earthworm Foundation. Since 2021, more than 210,000 trees have been planted, and over 100 farmershave introduced trees and hedges that will help increase biodiversity, protect soils from erosion, provide shade for livestock, improve water quality and help capture carbon. These efforts will contribute to more resilient ecosystems and healthier agricultural landscapes.
