GLW Feeds acquires shareholding in Abireo Animal Nutrition

[LOUGHBOROUGH, United Kingdom] – GLW Feeds Ltd has acquired a shareholding in Abireo Animal Nutrition Ltd, forming a long-term partnership that strengthens both businesses while preserving Abireo’s independence.

Established in 1873, GLW Feeds is a highly respected, family-owned animal feed manufacturer. Founded in 2025, Abireo specialises in the innovation of feed additive solutions. The two businesses share a commitment to building a sustainable and successful future for agriculture.

The partnership brings together complementary expertise and capabilities, creating a stronger platform for continued innovation and responsible growth across the ruminant and monogastric sectors in the UK, Ireland and Europe. The investment provides the resources to support Abireo’s continued growth, while preserving the independence, flexibility and customer-focused approach that have been central to its success.

Louis White, Managing Director at GLW Feeds, comments: “Becoming a shareholder in Abireo represents a long-term investment in a business with a strong commitment to innovation, impressive technical expertise and an established reputation within the industry.

“This partnership is about building on what already works, bringing together complementary strengths to progress our shared ambitions. We are excited to combine GLW Feeds’ experience, manufacturing capability and resources with Abireo’s specialist knowledge and expertise, creating greater opportunities on farm.”

Abireo will continue to operate as an independent business, with its existing team, customer and supplier relationships, day-to-day operations and distribution model remaining unchanged. Feed manufacturers, distributors, nutritionists, veterinary businesses and other industry partners will continue to work with the same people and benefit from the same customer-focused approach.

Advancing animal nutrition

Abireo’s portfolio includes a growing range of specialist nutritional products designed to support animal performance, nutrient utilisation and production efficiency, alongside a specialist Cornell Net Carbohydrate and Protein System (CNCPS) service.

Its yeast technology uses a specialised enzymatic process to unlock functional compounds from yeast, supporting gut health, immune function and resilience. Its toxin mitigation solutions are designed to help manage the impact of mycotoxins and endotoxins through a combination of binding and other modes of action.

Abireo also specialises in rumen-protected amino acids, helping deliver key nutrients beyond the rumen for efficient absorption and utilisation. By supporting more precise amino acid nutrition, these solutions can help optimise protein utilisation and production efficiency.

Dr Sophie Parker-Norman, Technical Director at Abireo, reflects on the company’s impressive rate of progress: “We’ve grown rapidly, and that growth has been driven by working closely with our customers and bringing together good products, sound science and practical technical knowledge. We’re focused on understanding customer needs and finding solutions that deliver real value in practice.

“Finding the right long-term partner was extremely important to us. We wanted to work with a business that understood the importance of our independence, relationships and the way we work. GLW Feeds shares our commitment to building trusted partnerships, responsible growth and a strong future for agriculture. This partnership gives us the resources needed to build on our momentum, strengthen our technical offering and continue our growth across the UK, Ireland and Europe.

“We are incredibly grateful to the customers who have supported Abireo’s growth and trusted us along the way. As we enter this next stage, our focus remains unchanged: working openly and collaboratively, sharing knowledge and expertise, and continuing to find practical solutions that deliver value. Ultimately, it’s about working together to achieve a better harvest.”

The investment marks the beginning of a new chapter for both businesses, combining GLW Feeds’ heritage, manufacturing capability and resources with Abireo’s specialist nutritional expertise, innovation and established industry relationships.

With both businesses retaining their distinct identities and ways of working, the partnership provides a strong foundation for continued investment, innovation and responsible growth across the UK, Ireland and Europe.
