Alltech introduces REVELEX™ range of solutions for anaerobic digestion systems

Alltech, a global leader in animal health and nutrition, has introduced REVELEX™, an integrated solutions range for anaerobic digestion to unlock more energy from feedstock. Built on Alltech’s expertise in biological science, REVELEX combines targeted technologies with advanced diagnostics and advisory services to optimise biogas production and system efficiency and deliver measurable performance outcomes.

REVELEX is based on a feedstock-led approach, tailoring solutions to the type of material entering the digester — from fiber-rich crops and food waste to liquid manures and nutrient-limited systems. This enables operators to maximise methane yield, reinforce process stability and optimise the extraction of energy from existing resources.

“Many anaerobic digestion systems operate below their potential due to variability in feedstocks and difficulty maintaining optimal biological conditions. That is why we are excited to introduce REVELEX, moving beyond products to a performance and reliability partnership that combines biological science, diagnostics, and advisory services while focusing on real-world outcomes, not just inputs,” said Dr. Patrick Ward, Europe and Asia-Pacific applications manager at Alltech. “Our research in the anaerobic digestion space is yielding very encouraging results, supporting renewable energy production and sustainability goals and helping farmers and operators unlock more value from existing resources, improving both economic return and environmental impact.”

Designed around substrate flexibility, the REVELEX range is structured to reflect the diversity of feedstocks used in anaerobic digestion:

  • REVELEX™ PF solutions for fiber-rich feedstock.
  • REVELEX™ PL solutions for slurry or manure dominant digesters.
  • REVELEX™ PM solutions for mineral optimisation where nutrient balance limits performance.

This modular architecture allows operators to select the right approach for their system, promoting predictability and enabling more consistent biogas production across varying conditions.

By turning underutilised substrates into reliable energy outputs, REVELEX helps deliver both economic return and environmental impact, supporting operators by:

  • Optimizing methane yield and overall energy production
  • Promoting digestion stability and process resilience
  • Maximising feedstock utilisation and flexibility
  • Supporting sustainability through better resource efficiency and reduced waste

The real test of any solution is not how it performs under controlled conditions, but how it delivers day to day. The Alltech EU Applications Laboratory at Alltech’s European headquarters in Dunboyne, Co. Meath, Ireland, established and managed a trial program. This began with nearly 12 months of baselining and process analysis to build a detailed understanding of the system before any intervention took place. Using biochemical methane potential (BMP) analysis, the initial focus was to demonstrate proof of concept under controlled conditions before expanding the approach into real-world anaerobic digestion plant applications, such as James Martin’s farm in Northern Ireland.

Martin’s farm was managing a mix of feedstocks, including slurry, silage and other organic materials, each varying in composition and quality over time. Following the introduction of REVELEX, the focus shifted from reacting to problems to proactively managing system performance. By supporting the biological processes within the digester, the operation began to see improvements not just in output, but in how reliably the system performed overall. Previously, performance had depended on constant adjustment and input, with limited certainty around outcomes.

“Working with Alltech has increased our biogas output by around 12–15%, cut our digester inputs roughly in half, and delivered a strong return on investment, giving us results I’m confident in and would recommend to others,” said James Martin of Ballydown Milk in Banbridge, Northern Ireland.
